Introduction to Intellectual All-Stars Segment

About twenty years ago, I paid a visit to a small science museum I had founded across the street from DEKA, my research and development outfit in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was a holiday, and a rainy one at that, so the museum was more crowded than usual with kids and their parents.
Encouraged by this apparent interest in science and technology, I posed a question to the group of young scholars -- could one of them name a living scientist or inventor?
The group was silent.
I looked up and asked the parents the same question. More silence. Finally, one of the adults spoke up. "Einstein," he said. "But I think he's dead."
- Dean Kamen, founder of FIRST, inventor of the Segway

Living professional athletes, musicians, and Hollywood celebrities. Kids can probably name many of each. But living scientists and engineers? Not so much.
Through FIRST, Kamen wants to generate the same amount of excitement for science and technology that young kids have for sports and music. In the program, kids work alongside professionals to inspire kids into these fields.

Kamen wants kids to be inspired and look up to the engineers, the scientists, the inventors of today. So we bring to you an the "Intellectual All-Stars Segment," in order to share with you some great intellectuals of today.
Let us explore some of these brilliant minds then, shall we?

Website Development Update: The Extensive Journey through a Library

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: The Extensive Journey through a Library

Were you guys expecting some HTML and CSS to look at? Great news, I have none for you. Instead, this is a chronicle of our journeys to finding a meeting room. You are welcome.

We are this excited. And you are too.

So our biggest struggle probably isn't building the website, but finding a meeting time and area around our schedules. It's pretty lame exciting.

We went to Newman Library and moved around three different times in order to have a good workspace. We wanted to grab a big meeting room but they were all taken up (by a single person in each one...) Brandon was insistent on kicking them out (groups of 3+ have priority and can kick groups of 2 or fewer out), but gracious professionalism, right?

So we found a downstairs meeting area. It was pretty cool. They had a monitor that up to four people can hook up their computers to and switch between each one. Unfortunately, one of the cables did not work, another one caused screen flashing, epilepsy inducing madness, and the other two had color issues. So, that didn't work out.

For the record, my desktop wallpaper is mustard yellow. Because mustard.

The new website that SOMEBODY still won't send me pictures of. Tsk. Tsk.
After that, we were able to secure one of the beloved meeting rooms. We took the elevator went up an extreme number of stairs with heavy loads as fast as we could so no one else could have it.

We were victorious.
And that is basically it. Maybe eventually I will be able to post actual exciting stuff after SOME PEOPLE send me their updated versions of the website, but for now, this is what I have for you.

WOW, WASN'T THAT EXCITING. ROBOTICS TEAM, GO GO GO.
